The internet business has become one of the fastest types of business in the past ten years. They began to grow in between 1997 and 2001 . People invested their money into the stocks and stocks were at their all time high. The internet business broke the mold on how a successful business could be run.  Most of the country for that matter much of the world, the top businesses belong to the internet. For example, Google, Yahoo, Msn, Ebay, Amazon and most recently Myspace.

At one time or another over half of the population will have tried an internet business.  It is not so easy. There are good points vs. bad points on starting a computer business rather a regular one. In the internet business you would not need as much money as you would to start a regular business. The bad point would be that you would have to rely on word of mouth mostly for advertising.

Now, if you have decided to start an internet business there are several things that you will need to do. For starters you will need a good idea, try to stay away from the popular sites that already exist, such as books, arcades, toys because you will have to work hard to get the search engine to recognize your site ( we will discuss that later) . Once you have a business plan you will need to think of a clever but catchy name, a name people will remember. Once you have thought of one you have to see if it is available through a domain site, most popular site is Go Daddy. Now that you have your name, you have find a hosting company to host your website on their server, again most popular one is Go Daddy.

Designing your website can be fun if you know how, there are scripts and codes and if you have never done this before it will all look like alien writing to you. You will have to hire someone to do this for you. Remember before when we said there are good vs. bad? This is one of them. A good web designer is going to cost a lot of money. Money well worth spending if you can make a go of the site or is it money you can afford to lose if you don’t make it.

There are many ways to make money online. You can join what is called an Affiliate Marketing Program, this is a free to join program where vendors will pay you to put their ad on your website. You’ve seen these before, you go to your favorite website you see the ads on the side or on the bottom and underneath it says Ads by Google or Ads by Yahoo. Some of those ads will be for cribs or ring tones. You click on the ad and if someone buys a crib from that site you will get a percentage of the sale.

Or you could choose to run your internet business the way some people do. This way is the hard way, you have to put a lot of work into it. Your web designer must be great, your content in your site must be fresh and exciting and you must keyword your site. The keyword to your site is basically what your site is about. If you are starting a site on used cars, then your keywords will be cars, used cars and every make and model car that you are putting on that site. It has to be enough for the search engines to notice. The lower the number you are on a search engine the better off you are. If you end up on the first page that is a major major accomplishment.
